Custom Floral Arrangement for a Past Client

I'm always very thankful for repeat business from my past brides. This particular client/bride ordered from me years ago and she still asks me to create special arrangements for her and her loved ones. Her uncle recently passed away and she asked me to create a floral arrangement for her aunt in memory of him.
She asked for fragrant roses, jasmine, gardenias and orchids. Mostly in white and ivory tones but with hints of color. I think it turned out really nice and hopefully it will bring her aunt some love, happiness and peace during this difficult time.
Joyce asked me to create another arrangement, which I will be starting tomorrow, so another blog post on that later this week.

Custom Flowers for a Client

I am so behind in blogging that I haven't even talked about the feature article on my company in the Jan/Feb 2014 issue of Victoria Magazine, but I will get to that this week (I know, a LITTLE late!). At any rate, because of that article, it has brought me awesome exposure in the home decor business. While my clientele has been predominantly brides, this article really helped people make the connection that these could be home decor pieces as well as works of art to showcase in their homes.
This one client in NY, had this beautiful lead crystal Baccarat Gingko vase that she wanted to fill with my flowers! The vase was so gorgeous and heavy. She wanted to have white hydrangeas, light pink peonies and I added in some pink ranunculus as well. She was so happy how they turned out. I'm sure with all the snow storms the East Coast has gotten, this will be a welcome bright and Spring like arrangement to cheer up the dreary cold snowy days!

A few more items for the craft fair

I've been busy creating a bunch of new pieces for the craft fair. I finished 4 additional arrangements today. Two of them are phaleanopsis orchid arrangements that are simple yet stunning. Who doesn't want orchids that don't wilt or die. I have such a hard time keeping flowers alive let alone orchids. My longest success with an orchid is the last one my husband and son bought me which I kept alive for 3 months and that's being gone 1 week without watering it. But alas it too met the same fate.Since we learned how to make the phaleanopsis orchid during our C3 workshops, I thought it would be great to introduce these little gems at the craft fair! I'm really happy with the way they turned out.I also decided to practice my dog roses as well after C3 and incorporated them with white freesia that I had left over from the last bouquet order. I arranged them in these super cute paisley shaped ceramic vases.

More arrangements tomorrow, but for now, enjoy the eye candy!

Custom Floral Arrangement for the Winner of the Nesting Newbies 1st Bluebirdbag Giveaway!

It's been a crazy wedding season thus far but I finally had a chance to work on the giveaway piece from the Winter issue of Nesting Newbies' bluebirdbag giveaway. The winner had the option of receiving the peony and cherry blossom arrangement or do a custom floral arrangement. Jennifer Durham of Spry on the Wall blog requested a custom piece. She's been ever so patient fortunately, but today I finished her custom piece. Jennifer sent me a picture of her bridal bouquet and asked if I could recreate the flowers (ivory roses, green cymbidiums and some brown elements). It was great because the vase I chose was already a deep dark brown. Her wedding bouquet had some orange in it but she said it wasn't particularly what she had wanted and the florist threw them in.
I decided to incorporate some light green viburnum and brown branches since her colors were predominantly ivory/white, green and brown. She saw the pictures today and she said it brought tears to her eyes.I get to enjoy this beautiful piece for a week or so before I ship to her. Check out Jennifer's blog at www.spryonthewall.blogspot.com. Be sure also to check out Nesting Newbies magazine because the next big giveaway is coming soon - the clay flower pendant that graced the current issue is going to be part of the In'betweet giveaway contest! You could win my clay flower pendant that's valued at over $1200. Over 200 flowers in this beauty!

Cake Topper = Keepsake Vase Arrangement

In between this post and my previous post this morning, I was working on Joyce's cake topper. Joyce asked that I create a keepsake cake topper that she can have as a home decor piece after the wedding. Much like what I did for my clients back in NY last year, I created a cake topper to match their wedding day flowers but that could be kept as a keepsake and decorative piece. I think more and more, brides are thinking about how to spend their money wisely and that's what I love about the clay flowers. They serve a purpose for your wedding day but at the same time they are also a keepsake and a decorative piece for the newlyweds' home!
I love this piece. So stunning against a white cake. You can even mask the vase so it looks like another layer with ribbon at the base.
Well, now that Joyce's cake flowers are done, I need to head back to my studio and make the 30 flowers for her favor boxes and finish her boutonnieres!
