What Do 70 Corsages Look Like You Ask???

The reason for the lack of blog posts is that I've been working on flowers all last week to build 70 flower corsages for a Korean Women's University reunion that's being held in May in San Francisco. A friend's mom asked if I could help her university alumni out with their request so we agreed to corsages. They'll be adding another ribbon with their university logo and the date, but this is what I created. Let's just say 70 corsages is a lot of work and my fingers are sore and numb from wiring and taping all 70 corsages. They do look amazing though all put together in rows! We did a mixture of flower combinations. Mostly they were plumerias, but we did a cymbidium orchid as well. It's definitely colorful and I believe they clients are using these to serve as the decor for the tables as well. Each attendee will get to take them home. Needless to say, I am so glad this order is complete. Now moving onto my other orders and of course getting all my tax preparation done.

Teri & Frank - Hilton Waikoloa Village
This morning I finished Teri & Frank's favors for their upcoming wedding at the Hilton Waikoloa Village & Resort. Teri came to DK Designs by way of the wonderful wedding atelier staff at the Hilton. Teri wanted save-the-dates, invitations and favors. This is a style sheet of all the components (or most of them anyway) to give you an idea of what we did for her wedding. Her colors were a turquoise and hot pink. So we went with a hibiscus design since she is getting married after all in Hawaii. We did some scroll work as well whcih worked out nicely.

For Teri's favors, she was so torn on what flower to do. I told her you can do different flowers for the male and female guests as I've had several clients ask for one particular flower for the female guests and maybe a pineapple or a turtle for the male guests. I think these days, anything goes, as long as it's done well! :) So since her wedding was quite small, we went for flowers in whites and pinks (gardenia, cymbidium orchid, hibiscus, plumeria) and for the guys a mixture of pineapples and wooden turtle with mini plumerias and leaves). The ribbons are a light teal organza and rasberry pink silk ribbon and we tied her wedding invitation motif back in with her favor tags to finish them off. So you can see that carrying the theme through from your save-the-dates all the way to your favors truly makes the event unique and all your own. I've had so many clients tell me how much their guests were excited when they received the invitation and to see all the other pieces with the same motif really helped make the event that much more special.

Well, back to my other orders... I hope you like what you see..

OOT Bags for Big Island Wedding
So I had pictures of some comps I did for a client a month or two ago. The wedding is almost here. Sayaka and Jeff tie the knot on May 2nd! Sayaka's family is flying in from Japan and Jeff's family is from the East Coast so it just so happens they are kind of meeting about half way! They are getting married at the beautiful Kona Plantation.

I asked Orchid Isle Weddings & Events if they could take some snapshots of the OOT bags since typically the photographer who shoots the actual wedding doesn't get to take these pics unless the bride remembers to make it part of the details to shoot. So thank you to Ruth Powell (Cheryl Shoemaker's assistant) who took these great pictures for me!

Sayaka requested all of the items to have the phrase "Makana Aloha" which losely translated is "gifts of Aloha or gifts of love". They wanted plumerias for the OOT items and the wedding day details use the orange cymbidium. It's kind of fitting because the favors we did are tiny wooden turtles with mini white plumerias for the men attending the wedding and the women get orange cymbidium orchid favors. I hope to share in the coming months pictures from the photographer who is shooting their wedding! Until then... enjoy!
