More Custom Cake Toppers...

I actually took some time off from working and took my son to see his cousins at their various activities. It was nice to get out of the house for a few hours over the long weekend and soak up the nice weather!

I worked yesterday on flowers all day and finished putting these two cake toppers together for 2 different clients. Funny thing is that they are both getting married on the same day and their color palettes are very similar.
The first one is a cake topper of ivory peonies, whitish ivory freesia, deep plum purple sweet peas, two tone lavender and lilac colored sweet peas and lilacs. I love the deep concentration of the plum sweet peas that contrast the more muted lighter tones of the other flowers.
The second one is a twist on an arrangement I had sold on Etsy that this bride liked but wanted to add a pink peony somewhere in the mix. So this one consisted of a blush pink peony, ivory and light purple English roses, cattleya orchids, and purple hydrangeas.

Blush Pink Anemone Cake Flowers

I love doing cake flowers and it seems to be my trend for the last few weeks, cake decor for weddings and events. I just finished 6 all white peonies each 4.5" in diameter which I will blog about soon, but the one I wanted to share was of my blush pink anemone cake flowers. I love these anemone flowers, especially the blush pink with the dark contrasting black center. Striking yet so delicate! Sara came to me via my Etsy site after seeing some of my anemone flower designs. She sent me an image of the cake that inspired her and this is the end result in clay form.
I've been playing around with my techniques and I have to say I'm liking my new secret tool more and more. Can't tell you what it is, but needless to say, it gives me some really great texture on my petals. Great find.... LOL!
Cake flowers are a nice change up from all the bouquets I've been working on, but as soon as I finish the last of these cake flowers, I have a lot of big orders behind it for lots of flowers, printed items and more. It's going to be a stressful but very fun filled month as I try to get all my orders done before we finally take our family vacation! It's been an entire year since our last one and I'm overdue. Working non-stop for over a year has been tiring and I need 10 days to just be a mom, a wife and spend time with loved ones we haven't seen since last year and relax on the beach! So excited! I'll be throwing in a little bit of work, but not much. I don't think I can truly ever walk away from my business 100%. LOL.

Sara's wedding isn't until October, but I told her I would get these to her before I left for my vacation so it's at least one thing she can get done early and mark off on her "to do" list! Congratulations Sara and I hope you'll share photos after your wedding!

Phaleanopsis Orchid Flowers and Bamboo for a Wedding Cake

Only 2 more weeks until my bride/client, Sharon ties the knot to the love of her life, Ryan! I've been busy painting orchids, working on place cards and programs all weekend long in between teaching. I finally had a chance to work on finishing her decorations for the cake.She asked me to recreate a cake she saw in a picture from her photographer Toby Hoogs! I've worked with Toby indirectly before on several other weddings and I'm so happy that he'll be photographing Sharon & Ryan's wedding as well. She basically was contemplating between sugar flowers or clay flowers and she said the price was about the same. So she finally made the decision to go with clay. She asked me to not only make the orchids but the bamboo. I wasn't sure how the bamboo would come out because she wanted really thin reeds, but I think it came out really nice.I'm so excited to see the pictures after the wedding. More pictures to come tomorrow as we're finishing up the favors, place cards and programs. :)
