Ivory and Blue - Boutonnieres and Corsages

One of my clients from last year had referred some friends of hers to me for their wedding needs. Alessandro and Jamie emailed me to see if I could create some boutonnieres and wrist corsages. They had told me this would be for a same sex marriage so they wanted to keep it simple. The colors are ivory and blue. Based on their budget we worked out the details. The wrist corsages would consist of 2 ivory roses and 2 clusters of blue hydrangeas and ivory ribbons with some greenery. The 5 boutonnieres would be ivory roses with some greenery and some dark brown branches. Alessandro and Jamie's boutonnieres would be a little bit more elaborate with some hydrangea clusters.

I occasionally get requests for items for same sex marriage/unions. My philosophy is this, regardless of who you choose to marry, I always try to make the experience of working with DK Designs on a wedding an enjoyable one. Alessandro and Jamie told me that they had wished that all of their vendors were as helpful, responsive and just plain nice. That really meant a lot. I also feel your wedding day is the most important days in your life regardless of who you choose to marry! :)

Red & White Bouquet Order

My client Whitney found me via my Etsy site. She asked if I could make her flowers for her wedding. Initially she liked this fall bouquet I had made for my client back in August/September. She finally decided on red roses, white stephanotis with crystal centers and she asked me if I could add some green elements with some branches which she liked from one of my spring like bouquets.
We did her bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets, 3 wrist corsages, stephanotis hair flowers, and 6 boutonnieres. The order will ship out tomorrow. I love the texture and dimension that the branches and the green fillers add to this otherwise traditional bouquet of roses and stephanotis blossoms.
I'm busy working on flowers for a lei for a charity event and I'm almost done with the last 50 flowers for that. Pictures soon, I promise. After those 50 flowers are done, I have a bouquet of all white ranunculus to make for another bride to start working on. Never a dull moment in my world.

My Jamaica Bride's Wedding Flowers - Part III

I finally finished Elisa's order. The last 3 boutonnieres and 3 corsages. It's good to have this one done since her wedding is next week after all. It's going to be packed up and shipped tomorrow!
It was fun to work on this order although I was stressed with all that was going on and trying to finish things before the deadline. Lots still to do today, which is why this post is very short.

Holiday Bouquets - Boutonnieres

Since I now have my wonderful new flash, I can take pictures any time of the day. Granted natural lighting is best, but this new flash allows me to get really decent shots so I can post pictures and not have to wait for the sun to be shining. With winter and forecasted rain, good thing for this new flash! LOL... These are the final pieces of Ela & Kelby's order.

I managed to finish the boutonnieres to go along with the bouquets - 8 in total. The groom's boutonniere contains the cymbidium orchid, an orchid bud and a peony bud. The groomsmen is also a cymbidium orchid, but with tuberose. The fathers have a cup style rose with the cymbidium orchid.

You have no idea how glad I am to have this order complete. I still have a centerpiece arrangement to make for the client, but luckily I can ship that afterwards. I think this has to be the largest bridal bouquet order I had.

It's been a crazy and amazing year for me and I'm looking forward to another big year in 2009! I'm so very appreciative of all the opportunities I have been presented with and thank you to all my clients who trusted in me to create everlasting bridal bouquets and centerpieces as well as to all my wedding stationery clients, who allowed me to design beautiful wedding details for their wedding day!

It'll be interesting to see if the clay flowers take over the bulk of my business. The way things are shaping up for my bookings for 2009, it looks as though the clay flowers will be about 80% of my business, but normally the invitations come through when I least expect it.

Boutonnieres and Corsage...

So here are the matching boutonnieres and corsage that go with the pink peony, rose and stephanotis bouquets in the previous post. I used these great little silver plated boutonniere holders that I think match nicely with the tussie mussie holders. Pink rose and stephanotis for the groomsmen and a small pink peony just starting to pop open (accented with stephanotis).



The person escorting my client down the aisle will be wearing this beautiful peony corsage.
