(Image courtesy of Mingwei Tay Photography)
Today was a fabulous day for me in terms of coverage. Mrs. Pineapple (www.weddingbee.com) returned with some photos from her wedding day, giving a recap of the getting ready to become Mr. Pineapple! There were some really great shots of the bouquets I did for her. The comments to the post were even more splendid as everyone thought the flowers were AWESOME! :) Click here to read the blog post by Mrs. Pineapple

Mrs. Pineapple has been one of my biggest fans and we still keep in touch via Facebook which is nice and I get to keep up with her growing wedding photography and wedding invitation business!

DK Designs Clay Flowers Featured on Indie Wedding Guide!

This morning I checked my website stats and noticed a huge jump that's not normal. So I remembered that the editor of Vintage Indie asked me late last week if they could use some of my photos for an upcoming article for Indie Wedding Guide. I checked their blog site this morning and there were my bouquets! :) It was a really nice article and I'm so honored that they featured my designs. Click here to read the full article or click on the image.

Clay flowers are so unique and different and I think the more press it gets the more brides will see what's possible and that they aren't just limited to fresh flowers or silk flowers as an option for their wedding day florals! Thank you to Indie Wedding Guide for featuring me on your blog today!

Well, I'm busy working on a bridal order that has to ship on Saturday so I have to get back to that. Pictures of those items to come later this week!

Bella's Favors

All of you are probably wondering why I haven't been blogging as fanatically as I normally do. LOL! Well, this week, I had 3 students from Ontario, Canada, Indiana and New Jersey come to take the CII curriculum of the DECO Clay Craft Academy. Monday through Thursday we had class from 8:30 - 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. and Friday we went from 8:30-2:00 p.m. In between classes my students had to do lots of homework. We managed to get 8 of the 10 classes completed and they all did really well. The bad habits they came with were replaced with the right techniques and skills and I hope that they will all be practicing on a daily basis to improve on their skills they learned this week.
Unfortunately I didn't get around to taking pics of my students making their flowers. It was a busy week and not much time to do anything else. Between all the classes I worked on fulfilling orders. This is one that I just finished today. You probably remember this from a previous post, but this is the completed order. Bella ordered 6 white orchids with fuchsia pink centers for her girlfriends & bridal party. She's so excited to get her order this week!
My items on Etsy have been selling like hotcakes. Literally probably in less than a month's time, I've sold over 40 items. CRAZY! So much for thinking I had a fully stocked storefront that would allow me a break from making more inventory. LOL. It's a great problem to have. Back to work...

Style Me Pretty Loves My Cake Flowers!!!

(Click on image to go to the blog post)
As many of you know, I am working with Estilo Weddings to provide them with various clay flower creations to sell to their customers online. Maria has come up with some wonderful product offerings for the 2009 wedding season. Today she informed me that Abby at Style Me Pretty had the fuchsia pink peony cake flower on her home page at the top of the blog about all the vendors & products she loves. I LOVE Abby's site as do many brides, wedding professionals and bloggers!

It's so amazing when I see things like this. It's very humbling and inspiring to me. It reaffirms how much I LOVE what I do and how the exposure continues to grow and make me want to be better at this wonderful art of CLAYCRAFT by DECO!

I don't do much wholesale and don't plan on it, but there are a couple of online retailers who I've agreed to work with and I so sincerely appreciate Maria for finding me and asking me to be part of her collection of wonderful wedding & event products to bring it to the market! She's so wonderful and easy to work with. Working with Maria and her company has indirectly brought me more exposure which is so invaluable to me! Thank you Maria and Estilo Weddings!

What HWTM Blog Readers had to Say about Clay Flowers...

I was googling for new sites featuring DK designs or clay flowers and came across another surprise giveaway contest that Estilo Weddings was doing on the Hostess with the Mostess blog! They featured all of Estilo Weddings' new 2009 collection of product offerings and Estilo was giving away a $100 shopping spree. I red through over 220 entries of people wanting to win and I got a chance to read what people thought about the clay flowers. I was really happy to see such glowing comments and how they thought it was such a great idea. :) I'm glad that I was able to work with Maria to find products that brides would deem a stylish addition to their wedding!

Garden Rose Hair Flowers

As I was making a garden rose for my client for a favor box sample design, I realized that it would make a perfect hair flower for weddings. So I experimented a couple of times and decided that I liked it enough to offer it as a hair flower. So these are the two that were just posted on my Etsy site about 10 minutes ago! I think these might be a big hit along with the gardenia flowers. :)
